Estefania Miramontes Valdes, M.D. is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) with a background in project management, mixed-methods, community-based and clinical research. She earned her M.D. from the Tec de Monterrey School of Medicine in Monterrey, Mexico, where she first discovered her passion for public health. Her early work included serving as a Project Manager for the Health Commission of Consejo Nuevo León, in Monterrey, Mexico, where she helped develop public health initiatives focused on childhood obesity and teen pregnancy prevention. After immigrating to Baltimore in 2018, Estefania worked at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center as a Community Outreach Specialist and researcher in a family planning program serving immigrant and uninsured Latina women and girls. She presented the program’s outcomes at the Pediatric Academic Societies Meeting in 2019 and was later recognized by the Bill & Melinda Gates Institute as one of the “120 Under 40” global family planning leaders. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she supported the Baltimore City Health Department as a contact tracer. Since 2020, Estefania has been part of ACCORDS, initially as a Research Services Professional and later as Project Manager for two NIH-funded projects. In 2024, she joined the Qualitative and Mixed Methods Research Core as a Qualitative Analyst, contributing to bilingual projects focused on co-creation and shared decision-making. Her work reflects a deep commitment to advancing health equity through culturally relevant interventions, with a particular focus on underserved communities.
